Closing Evidence Gaps to Inform Programming Decisions with USAID Chief Scientist, Dr. Ticora V. Jones

USAID Chief Scientist Dr. Ticora V. Jones leads a conversation with Dr. Paul Perrin of the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Perrin will provide an overview of the role of evidence syntheses such as evidence gap maps to inform decision making, share findings around themes relevant to USAID programming, namely effective partnership approaches in international research, capacity building for research translation, and research financing. The recently launched Research for Development Evidence Gap Map, developed in the framework of USAID’s Research Technical Assistance Center will also be highlighted. Dr. Jones will then lead the audience through a Q&A.

- Hear about the strategic role of evidence syntheses in global development work
- Learn about the key findings from the Evidence Brief Series
- Get an overview of evidence gap maps, their use, and process for construction
- Be introduced to the Research for Development Evidence Gap Map through a brief demo
- Have an opportunity to ask questions about the evidence creation and structure of evidence gap maps
