Description

A recent Gender Analysis and Assessment in Egypt indicated that strengthened collaboration and coordination among stakeholders improves outcomes for women. Simultaneously, USAID/Egypt elevated the importance of women’s empowerment as a key strategic outcome in the Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS). The Mission aimed to accelerate collaboration to advance women’s empowerment and gender equality by launching a Gender Equality/Women’s Empowerment Community of Practice (COP) to create a supporting network and a platform for Implementing Partners (IPs) to exchange experiences and intentionally collaborate with USAID/Egypt to operationalize women’s empowerment and address the first learning priority in the Performance Management Plan (PMP). The COP engaged 60 participants from the Mission and 23 Implementing Partners and continues to serve as an information and research hub, a peer learning support network and a safe space to experiment with new ideas without fear of judgment or evaluation by competitors or their donor.
