USAID’s Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Policy requires USAID personnel to engage the private sector and co-create market-based approaches and solutions to achieve critical development challenges.
PSE is a means-to-an-end to achieve more sustainable outcomes, spans a spectrum of different types of engagement, and is relevant across sectors and contexts.
USAID can harness private sector motivations, including market expansion and profit, which can align well with USAID development goals—reaching underserved markets, developing or introducing innovative new products and services to meet community needs.
By working together, USAID is better able to reach its development goals and the private sector is better able to meet their business and sustainability goals.
