After-Action Reviews
Featured In
USAID recommends conducting after-action reviews as an opportunity to "reflect on progress" of achieving results related to strategies, activities, or other Program-Cycle related processes: "These opportunities could focus on challenges and successes in implementation to date, changes in the operating environment or context that could affect programming, opportunities to collaborate or influence other actors, emerging risks that threaten the achievement of objectives, and/or other relevant topics" (ADS.201.3.4.10).
The after-action review is one of a number of pause-and-reflect activities that can help bring USAID staff and partners together for structured reflection to inform adaptations. Other (inter)related activities include portfolio reviews, mid-course stocktaking exercises, and partner meetings.
